The 3 Mindset Blocks hindering your success and abundance

In my journey toward personal and professional success, I've encountered hurdles that extended beyond the tangible challenges. Majority of my resistance to seeing the change I wanted, came down to one thing - and that’s mindset. So, with now officially having been 29 years around the sun 🎂 I felt it fitting to write this blog post on the 3 mindset blocks that may be hindering your future success and ability to call in more abundance.

These are the mindset blocks that subtly hindered my progress, clouded my vision, and impeded my growth. However, by working through them over the years, i’ve been able to transmute these challenges into achievements and personal fulfillment even beyond just the physical manifestations of my desires.

Let's delve into three common mindset blocks I've faced and the effective strategies I've used to overcome them, drawing personal insights and life experiences you can also watch from the complementary video below.

Feeling Unworthy or Not Good Enough

The first and perhaps most pervasive mindset block is the feeling of unworthiness or inadequacy. Many of us battle with self-doubt, questioning our abilities and talents but even deeper we may not think that we deserve to live a certain type of life. Perhaps, based on our upbringing we may not have had examples of people around us living the life we actually want to live. When you become a product of your environment or are fed limiting beliefs about what’s rightfully yours or not, you begin to live life on other people’s terms.

Want the fairytale love? It may not be perfect, but you can find a love and are deserving of a love that lifts you up, empowers you and makes you feel heard.

Want a milli in the bank? What type of job or business can you create or find that can make that a reality, alongside educating yourself on what it takes to build wealth (savings, investments, no bad debt).

Want to feel happy? Happiness isn’t the end goal, and it’s normal for our emotions to fluctuate. You can find happiness by simply reframing the way you choose to look at life. Also, happiness is subjective so some inner work needs to be done to discover what that feels like to you.

As you can see, this mindset block of feeling unworthy can manifest in various aspects of life, from pursuing creative endeavors to nurturing meaningful relationships. Realizing that self-criticism often stems from internalized perceptions rather than objective reality is the first step towards overcoming this barrier. You are worthy if you believe yourself to be. If not, then why would the Universe help you in co-creating another reality?

Example: I’ve always loved reading and writing as a little girl. I have google docs of poetry and short stories from 20 years ago, that will probably fail to ever be seen by the internet. However, it’s this love for expressing myself through these channels that over the years I suppressed. Doing the inner child work recently has helped me to prioritize engaging in hobbies that make me happy and I had the intuitive urge to write a book. It has been a project i’ve been working on for more than a year now, but the reason why it took so long was because of the limiting belief that I wasn’t worthy of having my book on bookstore shelves.

Growing up there was a lot of inadequacy around by writing thanks to schooling and unsupportive teachers. I doubted my skills a lot because I never got the external validation required to become a better writer. Over time, through introspection and self-compassion, I learned to embrace my strengths and acknowledge areas for growth. This led me to eventually become a coach (now I write content all the time, how ironic) and eventually now to a place where I challenged myself to write a fiction book.

Strategies for Overcoming:

  • Practice self-compassion and positive self-talk.

  • Focus on personal growth rather than external validation.

  • Celebrate small achievements and milestones along the way.

Not Feeling Resourceful Enough

The second mindset block revolves around the perception of limited resources, particularly as this tends to concern most people and their finances. Many individuals postpone pursuing their dreams or fulfilling their desires due to a perceived lack of financial means. However, resourcefulness often outweighs available resources. Sometimes we think we don’t have the money, knowledge, or support to do things but if we look even closer there are opportunities literally waiting at your door.

This is one reason why I don’t believe in not sharing your goals with others. I think there is a safe amount of time in which sharing your goals with others, can help you find the support you need. I always tell my clients that, money doesn’t always look like cold hard cash falling in your hands. It could look like, a friend offering you a place to stay during your travels or downsizing your apartment because you rather be able to save and travel more. It could be a friend referring you to another friend who has a podcast, and that helps boost your online presence and revenue for your biz. Sometimes being resourceful can be haphazard as well as strategic. We have to put ourselves in luck’s way, to make shit happen.

Example: Over the years, I’ve realized that my inability to save as much as I wanted to was because I was so caught up in trends and having to have certain items and experiences. This fear of missing out mentality kept me stuck because I wanted to be doing what everyone else was doing, at the expense of my future goals, mental health, and overall well-being.I used to spend thousands of dollars a year on makeup, because truly deep down - I didn’t love myself without it. I thought I was ugly without makeup, and needed it to feel pretty. Now, I can’t wait to wash the makeup off my face, which I usually only have on for special events.

It was only once I got clear on my values and goals, and compared this to my spending and what I was spending on, was I able to make a positive shift within my relationship with money and how to become more resourceful. The thousands of dollars spent at Sephora, now was being invested. My mental health because of it? Even better. I learned to love myself with OR without makeup and started building wealth too. This is how by reframing the definition of abundance and exploring alternative avenues for achieving goals, individuals can overcome financial constraints and pursue more of their passions.

Strategies for Overcoming:

  • Adopt a mindset of abundance and creativity.

  • Explore budget-friendly alternatives for experiences and goals.

  • Seek support and guidance from the community and resources.

Not Feeling Capable Enough

The third mindset block is that of not feeling capable enough. This stems from a lack of confidence in one's abilities and skills. Despite having good intentions and aspirations, you may feel paralyzed by self-doubt and fear of failure. This is probably the bigger mindset block people face when it comes to achieving their desired goals. It’s not that we don’t want or desire a said outcome or experience, but we don’t think we’re smart enough or talented enough to get it.

Well, i’m here to tell you that you are MORE than capable of doing anything - so as long as you put your mind to it. I know that’s cliche to say and really a really overrated inspirational quote, but it wouldn’t be cliche or overrated if it wasn’t true. You don’t have to be the best right of the jump, and sometimes failure isn’t because the goal or object of desire is not for you but you just have to go about it differently. Overcoming this mindset block requires a shift in perspective and a commitment to self-empowerment. Like all the other mindset blocks discussed before, they are all illusions - and if you allow yourself to be a servant to these illusions, they will win. You are smart and talented in your own way and are capable of achieving what you want. Focus on educating yourself and finding support systems, to keep you empowered and confident about the decisions you need to make.

Example: If you look at any coach or mentor in the online space, you’ll realize that their gift for what they teach didn’t come because they were always good at said thing. Relationship coaches had horrible dating experiences before becoming your coach. Finance coaches like myself weren’t always good with money. That right there, should show you that any desired change and experience has to be created. Whether that’s through going through life’s challenges and learning lessons the hard way or finding ways to educate yourself on how to become the better version of yourself you need to be in order to call in your desired into this life.

A lot of self-reflection went into my financial growth too. That’s how I knew that you didn’t have to be great at something to start to be great at something in the future. By seeking knowledge and learning from others' experiences, I gained the confidence to manage my finances like a baddie and continue to build wealth and financial security.

Strategies for Overcoming:

  • Invest in personal and professional development.

  • Surround yourself with supportive communities and mentors.

  • Break tasks into manageable steps and celebrate progress.

Mindset blocks are not insurmountable obstacles but rather opportunities for growth and self-discovery. By acknowledging and addressing these barriers, individuals can unlock their full potential and chart a path toward personal and professional fulfillment. Remember, the journey to success begins with a mindset of resilience, resourcefulness, and self-belief.
