Why Your Wealth Strategy Shouldn’t Look Like Anyone Else’s
We all have a list of things we’d never do.
Even as someone who leans adventurous, I’ve got a few hard lines.
I would never go skydiving.
I would never go on Fear Factor (especially that third round with the insects).
And I would definitely never lick the bottom of someone’s shoe.
Even if you offered me a million dollars—still no.
But here’s what’s interesting. What I’d never do, someone else might jump at the chance to try. And that contrast? It says everything about how unique we each are—especially when it comes to our wealth strategy.
Just recently, I ate something that might land on a lot of people’s “never” list: bush meat. More specifically—iguana.
In Trinidad and Tobago, bush meat refers to wild game like Agouti, Manicou, Armadillo (Tatu), and yes, iguana. It was my first time spending Easter on the island, and the energy was contagious. Music lit up the streets, families gathered to lime (Trini slang for hanging out), and the food was overflowing with flavor and tradition.
One of those dishes? A big helping of iguana.
And yes, I tried it.
Now, some of you might be reading this thinking, “I could NEVER.”
And that’s okay.
Because just like food preferences vary wildly, so do our financial preferences. And just like you wouldn’t eat what doesn’t sit right with you, you shouldn’t follow a wealth strategy that doesn’t align with who you are.
Let me explain.
Some people thrive using detailed spreadsheets to track every penny. Others break into hives just thinking about it and prefer using a simple budgeting app.
Some find their rhythm investing in real estate or flipping homes. Others stick to the safety of government bonds or diversify with gold.
Some feel fulfilled in a 9 to 5, while others dream of running their own business. And some folks would rather figure out their money solo than ever open a finance book or hire a coach.
And guess what?
Every single one of them can still build wealth.
The idea that there’s only one way to grow your money is outdated.
A truly effective wealth strategy starts with knowing yourself. It’s about creating a roadmap that reflects your unique values, lifestyle, boundaries, and dreams—not someone else’s.
I’ve learned that my most aligned financial growth came when I stopped trying to follow formulas and started tuning in to who I really am.
I got clear on what I value.
What I want.
And just as importantly, what I don’t want.
That clarity forms the foundation of a sustainable, joyful wealth strategy—one that doesn’t just create numbers in a bank account, but creates peace, purpose, and possibility.
This is the same approach I use with clients. I don’t impose rules or rigid systems.
Instead, we co-create a wealth strategy that works with who you are—your energy, your income, your values, and your lifestyle. It’s about maximizing abundance in a way that feels good to you.
So if you don’t want to use a traditional budget, that’s okay.

Because true wealth is not about copying someone else’s highlight reel.
It’s about defining what freedom looks and feels like for you.
And building your wealth on those terms.

Your wealth strategy should reflect your truth.
Not the latest trend.
Not the loudest voice on social media.
Not your neighbor, your parents, or even your past self.
You get to choose.
